Rød Manor is a rich cultural gem with over 300 years of history. The influential Tank and Anker families left their mark on the magnificent estate from the 1730s to the mid-1900s. The main house with its garden and park faces the Iddefjord, where splendid sailing ships once anchored.
The garden was designed as a grand baroque garden with straight paths, terraces, fish ponds, and a pavilion at the center of the main axis. Later, it was expanded with an English landscape garden surrounding it. Here you’ll find an octagonal pavilion from 1756, a hazel avenue, and a lime tree tunnel. The grounds feature mature deciduous trees, ponds, a bear’s den, a hermit’s cottage, a salute battery, and a burial site.
