– great vibes and a bit of competition…
On warm summer evenings, the bar at Fredriksten Hotell is the perfect place to gather friends, family, or colleagues for an enjoyable game of shuffleboard. The game is easy to learn: the goal is to slide the pucks with precision so they land in the scoring zones, while also knocking your opponent’s pucks out of play to secure as many points as possible.
The simple style of play means everyone can join in, while the tactical depth creates exciting and entertaining duels. The combination of a great atmosphere, something nice in your glass, and friendly competition makes shuffleboard a perfect activity for long summer evenings at Fredriksten Hotell.
Access to shuffleboard can be booked at reception in advance,
or at the bar in the evening.
RULES
How to play
Two players or two teams play against each other.
Each player has four pucks in their color.
Players slide the pucks alternately from the same end of the table. The goal is to get the pucks to stop in the scoring zones at the opposite end of the table.
Scoring
Only pucks that are completely past the nearest score line earn points.
Standard scoring zones are:
1 point
2 points
3 points
A puck hanging over the edge of the table (but still resting on it) is often called a hanger and usually awards 4 points.
During play
You can knock your opponent’s pucks out of the scoring zones or off the table entirely.
You can also use your own pucks to protect a good position or push them further for higher points.
When are points counted?
Points are only counted once all eight pucks have been played.
The next round then starts from the opposite end of the table.
Winner
There are several ways to win, but the most common is:
The first player or team to reach 15 points (some play to 21) wins.
