At Fredriksten Hotel, we handle your personal information in various contexts, such as when you book our services, stay at our hotels, or use services we provide. In our privacy policy, you will find more information about our processing of personal data. Below you will also find contact information if you have questions or need access.
We process your personal data in accordance with applicable local personal data protection law, hereinafter GDPR.
1. Processing of your personal information
Our company Fredriksten Festningshotell Drift AS org. no. 993 582 964, Generalveien 25-27, 1769 Halden, email post@fredrikstenhotell.no is the data controller for personal information in our booking, billing, and hotel management systems. We are also the processor for our marketing and sending of emails to our customers and contacts.
2. Processing of personal data related to bookings and stays
In connection with any bookings made by you or by others on your behalf, we process the personal information we need to fulfill the agreement on booking and purchasing services. This is information you have provided us directly, or that you have given us through a travel agency or an OTA. We process information such as your identity, your contact information, and your payment information. In some cases, we will store your passport number. In addition, we handle other information you may have provided us that is relevant to your stay with us. This could be information about allergies, or about special requests for your stay. We record all purchases and orders you make with us such as spa, restaurant, room service, etc., in order to provide such services and pay for them.
We process this information as long as necessary to fulfill our booking agreement with you, and as long as applicable laws or regulations require us to do so.
We log in with key cards at our hotel. We do this to prevent and solve crime, and for security, including fire safety. We store the logs for 21 days.
3. Processing of personal data for marketing purposes
If you sign up for our newsletter, we will store and use your email address to send you news and offers.
We will also use your email address or phone number to send you news and offers within existing customer relationship rules. Our basis is marketing legislation.
We will contact you via social media with your consent, or within existing customer relationships. To use social media as a communication channel, we must provide your email address or your social network number. Our basis for this is consent or legitimate interests.
You can withdraw any consent you have given us at any time. You can also reserve the right to consent to receiving marketing in existing customer relationships. To do this, send an email to post@fredrikstenhotell.no.
4. Processing of personal data for development, troubleshooting, and security
We will process data that includes personal information for troubleshooting and fixing errors, improving the services and technology we use, and analyzing usage and user behavior. Furthermore, we will process personal data to confirm your identity, including verification of your identity in connection with your use of our digital services.
We anonymize data and create statistics as far as possible, but will also need to process personal data for development, troubleshooting, statistics, and security purposes.
5. Processing of personal data in other matters
If you contact us with inquiries, we will process personal data you provide as far as necessary to be able to answer and log your inquiry. The basis for this is to fulfill agreements with you or respond to your inquiries.
In addition to the processing described in our privacy policy or based on your consent, we may process personal data when applicable law, including the personal data act and GDPR, valid government order or court requires or allows us to do so.
6. Disclosure of personal data and statutory processing.
We will not disclose your personal information to third parties unless you have consented to this, or unless applicable law, including the personal data act and GDPR, valid government orders or courts allow us or require us to do so.
For the sake of order, we wish to inform that our use of data processors to process information on our behalf is not considered disclosure.
7. Your Rights
As a private individual, you have several rights under the new personal data act.
You have the right to request access to, correction or deletion of personal data we process about you. You also have the right to demand restriction of processing, object to processing and demand the right to data portability.
To exercise your rights, please contact us at post@fredrikstenhotell.no. We will respond to your inquiry to us as soon as possible and no later than within 30 days.
We will ask you to confirm your identity, or ask you to provide additional information before we allow you to exercise your rights in this way. We must do this to ensure that we only give you access to your personal information – and not someone pretending to be you.
If you believe that our processing of personal data does not correspond to what we have described here or that we in some way violate the personal data act, you can alternatively complain to the Norwegian data protection authority or the supervisory authority in the country where you stay at a hotel. 8. Cookies
Most websites today use cookies to improve the user experience. A cookie is a text file that, when visiting a website, is stored in your browser’s memory. Fredriksten Hotel’s websites use cookies. We do this to improve the user experience. No personal information is stored or retrieved.

We continuously work to develop and improve our services to our customers. This will change the method or scope of our processing of personal data. The information we provide through this privacy policy will therefore be adjusted and updated sporadically. We will also make changes to the privacy policy when new rules or government practices make it necessary.
11. AI Chatbot
Using an AI chatbot to give you quick and easy access to information about our hotel. The chatbot collects information about your interactions with it, including your questions and answers. This information is used to improve the chatbot’s performance and provide you with a more personalized experience. You can choose not to interact with the chatbot at any time.
